Hit Santa Barbara today for a well-deserved vacation. As always, we get off on Cabrillo Blvd. and head straight to Brophy Bros for a few beers, some awesome seafood and a few Patron shots, plus connecting with the locals, like Cappy. He’s lived on a bait in the harbor for over 20 years. And he’s called “Cappy” because he drinks Captain Morgans, not for his captaining–go figure.
Seafood shown here.
So expect several more posts from this lovely area. And for this who think–hey, they’re out of town, let’s go rob their place! Just remember, we left the 73-pound pit bill mix at home. Her teeth aren’t that sharp. Have fun!
Sooooooooooooo very unfair that I can’t be a third wheel and enjoy all the yummy fun!!
Not yet!! 🙂
I love mussels so much!
Brophy’s makes the best!
Have a great time!
Thanks! It’s hard not to–Santa Barbara is so fantastic!
Yay, Santa Barbara! I got my BA at Cal Poly SLO, about an hour away! Such a beautiful place, right? God, I miss that area sometimes. A little remote from everything (a big city is kind of far) but so beautiful. I’m jealous! BTW, you should stop at the Natural Cafe in downtown SB. It’s great food! Get the Turkey Burger. Ron and I were in SB a year ago, and we purposely ate there twice because we loved their fresh, relatively cheap, healthy food!
SUCH a beautiful place! I love The Natural Cafe, and there’s so many great restos to choose from. Finally tried Alchemy this morning–a lot of raw, healthy food. I needed it after all the rich food! Congrats On your new apartment! Wish I could stop by with a housewarming gift. 🙂
MMMM, you’re making me hungry!! I’ve never been to Alchemy, and I just checked it out online. It looks so fresh! I now have a new stop!!
And are you driving through central California? I don’t know if you eat dairy or fish, but Splash Cafe in Pismo and SLO has the best Clam Chowder I’ve ever had. Hands down. I’ve tried to find good chowder on the east coast…and none compare to their bowl of gold.
We are sticking to SB and LA this time, too bad! I’ll keep your recommendations in mind if we go–although I can’t do the dairy/chowder! 😦
Hi there,

Brophy Bros.
Thanks John! We will be there Thursday to kick off Fiesta!
